Feeling stumped on what to post online? Refer back to your brand content pillars: educate, promote, inspire, connect, entertain, and engage. Whether you run an Etsy store, coffee shop, or fashion blog, it's important to know your content pillars and have some last minute content in your back pocket!
Content Pillars
Educate: Share valuable or interesting information. This includes things like Behind the Scenes content, fun facts, tips/advice, or teaching a process.
Promote: Spotlight your products, services, unique selling points, values, sales/promotions, and events!
Inspire: Could be similar content to Educate. Share a process, story, before & after, or idea that you think could inspire others to try a similar process.
Connect: Build a connection with your audience and nurture a community. Post things like User Generated Content, reviews and testimonials, and spotlight yourself or your team. Be personable.
Entertain: Social media is often a platform people turn to for entertainment in addition to connection and information. Have a fun idea for a humorous reel or relatable meme? See if you can tailor it to be brand/industry specific.
Engage: Hopefully all your content is engaging, but some content could aim specifically to engage such as polls, questions, recommendations, and inviting open discussion.
Now, not every content pillar is needed for every brand. Most choose a few to focus on that make sense for them. In addition to these six brand pillars, here are four more ideas of what to post when you need content in a pinch!
Post Ideas
User Generated Content: This is great because it provides content for you quickly, and is part of the Connect content pillar. So if you have photos from your customers and community, share them! It builds that connection, and also gives your audience a fresh perspective of your brand from a trusted customer.
Reuse and Repurpose Content: You can actually use the same content again, it's okay, really! Especially if you have been growing your accounts and have fresh eyes that may not have seen it before. And if the original content was aiming to promote or educate, then it's also just a great reminder for your audience as well.
Aesthetic Photos: Sometimes you may need filler posts and that's okay, as long as it's on brand. Ask your photographer to take some customized brand photos or aesthetic mood shots (like props, ingredients/materials, environment). Or perhaps you want to give your audience a little insight to your personal life and feel more relatable. All of these things are still building your brand and relationship with your community, as long as it's done with intention.
Spotlight Another Brand: Think of brands you've partnered with, support, admire, utilize in your business, or are located near. Use this opportunity to inform your audience as to why you're spotlighting them, how your brands align, and build your community and business network.
